Change is one of the few certainties in life. Everything is in constant motion: the seasons, the cells in the body, thoughts, emotions — even the universe itself is expanding. However, when it comes to internal changes — the evolution of consciousness, leaving behind a version of oneself, modifying habits, beliefs, or relationships — an uncomfortable, almost painful feeling arises. This is no coincidence: discomfort is an essential part of the process of expansion.

From a spiritual perspective, change is not an isolated event. It is the soul’s natural response to its need to align with its true purpose. It is not the mind that seeks deep change — it is the soul. The mind, programmed for survival, seeks what is familiar, safe, and already known. But the soul seeks truth, authenticity, and connection with the All.

And that is where the conflict begins: between the expansion the soul drives and the resistance the mind creates.

Resistance is not the enemy: it is a sign of depth

Many people believe that if there is discomfort, the path must be wrong. But discomfort is not a “danger” signal — it is a sign that something deep is being touched. Resisting change is not a sign of weakness, but a natural reaction of the ego when faced with the loss of control. When we understand this, we stop fighting against discomfort and begin to observe it.

Resistance appears when old memories (our own or inherited) are triggered, when the emotional body goes on alert, or when mental structures fail to process the new that is being born. It is as if a part of us says: “What if this doesn’t work? What if I’m making a mistake? What if I lose what I already have?”

But… what if what’s coming is exactly what you need to remember who you are?

Change as the Impulse of the Inner Universe

Every expansion requires a symbolic death — of habits, beliefs, relationships, and behavioral patterns. True change is never superficial; it always dismantles something we once believed was fixed. And in doing so, it reveals layers of our being that were dormant or hidden.

In that process, it is common to feel confusion, anxiety, or fatigue. These emotions do not signal failure — they signal transition. You are between a “you” that you no longer are and a “you” you have not yet fully embodied. You are in that liminal space where nothing feels solid, yet everything is taking shape.

Authentic spirituality is not about avoiding the pain of change, but about moving through it with presence, trust, and humility. Expansion is not comfortable — but it is liberating.

Practical Tips for Navigating Change with Spiritual Awareness
  1. Acknowledge that you are changing.
Naming the process helps ease anxiety. You can tell yourself: “I am in a moment of transition, and it’s okay if I don’t understand everything yet.”
  2. Speak to your resistance.
Do not ignore it or treat it as an enemy. Observe it. Ask it: “What part of me is afraid? What needs to be heard before I can let go?”
  3. Allow the void.
In every transformation, there is a space between what no longer is and what has not yet arrived. This void is fertile, even if it feels uncertain. Do not try to fill it hastily. Simply breathe into it.
  4. Protect your energy.
Change consumes emotional and spiritual resources. Rest more. Make sure you have moments of silence. Avoid exposing yourself to heavy environments or to people who do not respect your process.
  5. Do not seek immediate understanding.
What seems like chaos today will become clarity tomorrow. You don’t need to understand everything now — you need to trust that a greater order is supporting your process.
  6. Remember who you are.
Amid the confusion, return to your essence — the part of you that knows you are part of the All, that you came here to expand, not to stagnate. That part knows that discomfort is a sign of life in motion.

The soul does not expand in comfort. It expands when you dare to cross the threshold. That threshold can be painful, but it is also sacred. You are not losing your way — you are finding it. Discomfort is a sign that something within you is awakening.

Those who walk an authentic spiritual path are not the ones who never doubt, but the ones who, despite doubt, keep listening to the deep voice that whispers: “Keep going, there is more to discover about yourself”.

Change is the way the universe reminds you that you came here to evolve, not to remain still.

Discomfort is not the end — it is the threshold of your expansion.
