Thoughts on Death (Part 26): Grief as the Deepest Expression of Love (Letting Go Without Forgetting)

Ep. 317. Grief is the language love uses when it no longer has a body. It is that intimate and sacred moment when affection, no longer able to express itself physically, is forced to transform so it doesn’t drown us from within. When someone leaves, they don’t leave behind a clean or silent emptiness; they leave a different kind of presence. A presence made of unspoken words, gestures suspended in the air, and tenderness that no longer has a place to land. That’s why grief doesn’t feel like absence, but like excess—excess love that didn’t disappear, but no longer has a body through which to move.
