In Buddhism, one of the main characteristics of love is the ability to feel compassion for other sentient beings on this planet. In this way, everyone can be respected.
Love is an energy of union.

A great Tibetan master says that love is giving energy to someone else. And here I would love to share a letter that Einstein wrote to his daughter, talking about the most powerful force in the Universe, as stated by him:

“When I proposed the theory of relativity, very few understood me, and what I will reveal now to transmit to mankind will also collide with the misunderstanding and prejudice in the world. I ask you to guard the letters as long as necessary, years, decades, until society is advanced enough to accept what I will explain below.

There is an extremely powerful force that, so far, science has not found a formal explanation to. It is a force that includes and governs all others, and is even behind any phenomenon operating in the universe and has not yet been identified by us. This universal force is LOVE. When scientists looked for a unified theory of the universe they forgot the most powerful unseen force…”

Love means union. This great force explains absolutely everything and gives meaning to life. We have been made to believe that love hurts, that true love has to be like in romantic movies, or we also think of family love, but love is more than that. It is a vital force in human existence. It is essential, creative, and transforming, and it would enter into each one of the aspects of our lives.

Continuing with Einstein’s letter:

“…To give visibility to love, I made a simple substitution in my most famous equation. If instead of E = mc2, we accept that the energy to heal the world can be obtained through love multiplied by the speed of light squared, we arrive at the conclusion that love is the most powerful force there is, because it has no limits”

Each act of love towards another sentient being or towards myself, whether it is an act of generosity, patience, tolerance, empathy, etc., connects us to the other and to ourselves, and equalizes us to the love that we are, to the energy of the universe to which we belong.

The great challenge that all incarnated beings have had in this third dimension that vibrates at a low frequency is precisely to love. To love through the darkness that we often live in, remember that without darkness we cannot see the light. Fear makes us want to control everything that happens around us in order to gain safety. That fear comes from the wrong idea of believing that I am separate from everything.

Love is an inexhaustible source.

According to Buddhism, love is an inexhaustible source, since the energy it provides belongs to the Cosmos and not to the individual himself. The energy that occurs in love is the energy of the Cosmos itself.  Not being tied to any kind of concept, a person returns to the void. In quantum physics, the void is infinite energy potential, and thus, this person can serve as a channel for that inexhaustible source.

We all belong to the Cosmos, and therefore, we all have that inexhaustible energy. We would stop looking for fulfillment and security in the outside world. When I act from love towards myself and towards others, there is peace.

In Einstein’s words, if we want our species to survive, if we want to find meaning in life, if we want to save the world and every sentient being that inhabits it, love is the only and last answer.

Perhaps we are not yet ready to make a bomb of love that destroys the hate, the greed, and the egoism that plagues the planet, but each one of us carries that very powerful energy of union called love that waits to be released when we learn to give and receive from each other. With that energy, we would verify that love can do everything and, no, it is not necessary to cling to anything. Never forget the law of impermanence: everything changes.

We must start by healing ourselves so we can re-configure this love that lives in us. This would be the best medicine of all. If I change, the world changes, and from this small space that I have had to inhabit on Earth, I could begin to make the change that I want to see on the planet since this energy of union would do that, unite those who are in my environment, and it could be possible to expand love.

If I respect all sentient beings on this planet, I will be able to unify with everything. Understanding love for another sentient being is not an easy task, but if I put it into practice, I might be able to enjoy my brief stay on Earth even more.

Love is not about finding someone who makes me happy or being accepted; it’s about understanding and giving energy beyond those concepts we have about love. I have to treat others as I would like to be treated.

The essence of the energy of union called love is compassion and empathy.

“Love is Light, that enlightens those who give and receive it. Love is gravity, because it makes some people feel attracted to others. Love is power, because it multiplies the best we have, and allows humanity not to be extinguished in their blind selfishness. Love unfolds and reveals. For love we live and die. Love is God and God is Love”

Albert Einstein
