One of the greatest mysteries that science has not yet been able to explain is Consciousness.
What is Consciousness?

If we look up the definition of “consciousness,” we will find several options, including knowledge of oneself and one’s surroundings. It is said that consciousness emerges from the back of the cerebral cortex. On the other hand, we would discover that conscience is related to what is morally right and wrong.

In this episode, we’ll set these terms aside and get into the business of discussing the great mystery known as consciousness.

I asked myself the same question when I discovered myself on that inner journey: What is consciousness? None of these words described what I was feeling. Then, I came across a quote that resonated with me: “Consciousness is that which lies behind any perceptual act and which sustains the very quality of experience.” This was said in an interview by Dr. Jacobo Grinberg, so I began to delve into his extraordinary theory of consciousness. He said that consciousness is something that can’t be defined. He gave an example where he said that sound, at the level of space, physically doesn’t exist. What we call “sound” is a quality of consciousness as we experience it.

Dr. Grinberg said that if we analyze it on a physical level, what we perceive as sounds are a set of vibrational changes in air molecules. Nor does it exist on a physiological level, since if you penetrate the brain looking for the sound, you will realize that the sound is nowhere, so the sound is also a quality of consciousness.

Our entire existence is Consciousness.

As I’ve always said: take what resonates with you and discard the rest. In my opinion, the concept of God as it exists on this physical plane is so limited. This concept doesn’t resonate with me, as has been demonstrated. I just don’t feel it’s the best way to describe the whole divine nature of what it really is.

Using Grinberg’s concept, consciousness is what lies behind any perceptual act and sustains the very quality of experience – that is, our entire existence. If we concentrate on this point, everything we know as physical things we don’t directly know. They are a manifestation of that consciousness that is decoded by our mind.

So, consciousness is what translates our reality.

This reminds me of Descartes’ concept, who said that the mind is different from matter but could influence it. He believed the mind exerted control over the brain through the pineal gland. We talked about this in the last episode.

Here, I’ll open a parenthesis to make a comment that I think is relevant: Our brain translates all the perceptions we receive through the connections that we have recorded, thanks to those inheritances from our ancestors. What I am trying to say is that the brain doesn’t think for itself; it reproduces information recorded in it, always through us.

The Hologram

In Mahayana Buddhism, the Dharmadhatu, which in Sanskrit means “space of absolute reality,” refers to the consciousness of the purified mind when it returns to its natural state free of darkness, reality as it is, the essence of the mind. The Dharmadhatu Wisdom entails direct knowledge of the entire universe as identical to Reality itself, that essential nature of phenomena known as vacuity. We don’t see things as they are. We give things the concept of good or bad thanks to the emotions that they generate in us.  That prevents us from breaking through that perceptual barrier and perceiving them from non-duality, from that space where neither time nor separation of those objects exists.

Thich Nhat Hanh puts it this way: One sees a flower and perceives it as overflowing, full of the cosmos, and that is true; the flower is plenitude; it is only empty of one thing, empty of inherent nature, because the flower cannot be by itself because it needs everything in the cosmos to be. If you remove the non-flower elements [e.g., sunlight, rain, mineral elements, vegetables, etc.], then it cannot be. As a result, it is full of everything except separate inherent existence.

And so, everything that surrounds us, nothing has reality by itself, but its reality is given by other things that make it up, and each thing that makes it up depends on others, so we cannot say that things are really made of something, not even subatomic particles that depend on observation to exist.

When quantum physics studies the basis that constitutes the nature of our material reality, it shows us that it is formed mostly by empty space and that its apparent solidity is just that, an appearance, a kind of mirage, an illusion, just as it is expressed in the hologram.

What does a hologram do? It creates an illusion that things are located where they are not. It seems that a hologram occupies space, but if we go through the hand, we will see that there is nothing. It’s like the reflection of the moon in the water. This reality is neither false nor true. What is reflected in itself cannot exist substantially. The reflection of the moon in the water is not real. If it were real, this would have a very absurd consequence. But it is not unreal either, because it is manifesting itself as real in the world.

We are all one Consciousness experiencing itself simultaneously.

Where do I want to go with this? To that place which we always discussed: the inner self. This opens the door to the very essence called consciousness so that you can live the experience of your evolutionary process in the third dimension. Knowledge is your best weapon. If we are all consciousness, then how do you want to have your experience on this physical plane?

We will begin to change when we realize that the harm we inflict on other sentient beings is harming ourselves. You cannot treat yourself in an unhealthy way. Everything in my environment is me! If we understood this, the judgments would end. As a result, we can understand each person is going through their own evolutionary process, finishing with their own set of indicators. We act in accordance with our current level of consciousness because that level is necessary to continue our evolutionary process. Let’s remember Einstein’s theory of relativity, which says that things can be perceived very differently depending on the observer’s point of view.

When we have this clarity, we will be able to become our best selves, and we can support the path of those who are awakening. When we understand that we are part of that great consciousness, or that Superior Being (well known to everyone), and we have no doubt about it, we will begin to function at that same divine level.

That is why it is critical to understand our current level of consciousness in order to continue expanding it and connecting with our divine essence. We are all Consciousness. In that consciousness, there is no time, there is no space, there are no judgments, and we are not separated. There is a true essence that is based on the energy of union called “love.” Yes, we are all love.

Awakening to consciousness is the ultimate goal of all souls.
