Despite being the only thing that we have guaranteed in life, talking about death is a ‘taboo subject’ in Western culture. Nobody wants to talk about it despite being part of our life cycle and what we really are.

So, I would like to talk a little about what death is, something that prevents people from being really free in our physical state of this short… very short journey, called life.

Death does not exist

I will start by saying that death does not exist. Remember that everything is energy (including us, of course) and as energy is neither created nor destroyed, only converted from one form of energy to another. So, put it this way… death is a transition to a ‘bandwidth’ of a different frequency at a higher energy level.

We live in a great ocean in motion where everything is vibrating. Your physical body is the house where your soul lives, and is just a massive energy vibrating at a high speed. However, one day it will expire and stop working and your soul will then move to a more beautiful place: the Universal Source (where we all came from). The physical body dissolves but the spirit doesn’t die. You are a spiritual being not a physical body, you are wearing one. Remember, that we arrived in the world in this physical body like a little seed that grows and grows until you reach your adult body. This is when the descent of your physical life begins, going down and down until we become dust.

The Taboo of Death

Our culture thinks that death is a very bad thing. When you try to talk about it, people immediately shut you up saying ‘oh no!, don’t talk about it, let’s talk about something else, something more positive’. It is an uncomfortable subject which they choose to ignore. When, in fact, it should be discussed naturally as any other topic in life. The truth is, death is one of the most inspiring and freeing subjects that has ever existed.

Many people are afraid of dying simply because they are so attached to their physical bodies. The physical body is full of egos, fears, desires and vanity. The thought of separating from our material lives causes panic: ‘how am I going to leave my house, my car, my family, my money, my dog’? … the ego is what drives you to be stronger, smarter, faster. It also drives you to want more and more. Especially, the material things … and when you try to separate those things from yourself, that’s when the conflict begins. Furthermore, this same ego continuously reminds us of this fear: ‘I still cannot die, I need to travel, I need to go to visit this place, I need to buy that New iPhone…’

We need to work on that part of detachment. We live in a world where the physical matters A LOT, If you think that you are only a physical body, obviously you are going to be afraid of dying.

Dying isn’t as bad as you think

In Buddhism, death is a celebration. Buddhists realize that everything is transitory and all this that we are living is temporary. Also, death is an illusion, and we don’t need to be so attached to this world. When you recognize that you are an eternal soul, you are not afraid of death. And if you are not afraid of death, you are not afraid of life. When this realization occurs, you are not afraid to leave your comfort zone and live unique experiences.

Buddhism philosophy is about living an enjoyable life so we can have a happy end. Death is relative and you don’t have to be afraid because it’s part of the life experience, and it’s something that’s going to happen. We must learn from the great Buddhist teachers: they live it and go through it in a joyful and peaceful way. Buddha taught that suffering arises when we have attachments to things that we desire. Suffering for the death will depend on yourself,  you are the one who create all that suffering just because you think the reality has to respond to your wishes. You just need to allow and trust the natural process of the Universe.

When I finish my mission on this life, my consciousness transcends. Accepting that death is not the end, universal perception expands. We all must work to change our perspective on death. In the end, your soul will move to a more beautiful (much larger) home, where you will meet all of your loved ones in the highest vibration of love.

You simply return home.

Your spirit will continue to live in eternal happiness.

(Translated from my podcast: Season 3 – Episode 1)

Remember the clear light, the pure clear white light from which everything in the Universe comes, to which everything in the Universe returns; the original nature of your own mind. The natural state of the Universe unmanifest. Let go into the clear light, trust it, merge with it. It is your own true nature, it is home’.- Tibetan Book of the Dead.
